On Monday, October 31, we will have our Halloween activities in the afternoon.  At 12:30 there will be the costume parade in the gym.  Following the parade, there will be a Sock Hop dance for the students, also in the gym.

We have been learning with and about pumpkins this month.  We opened a pumpkin and used different words to describe how the skin, seeds, and inside the pumpkin felt.  After we cleaned the seeds, we used 10 frame egg cartons and the seeds to show numbers up to 10.

Today, we were learning the song Orange Pumpkins:

Orange pumpkins growin' on the vine,
    Orange pumpkins oh so fine.
Orange pumpkins growin' on the ground,
    Orange pumpkins big and round.
    Grow orange pumpkins, grow, grow.
Grow orange pumpkins, grow, grow, grow.
We won't pick you No! No! No!

Activities to do with Letter Stories

The following are some ideas you can do at home with the letter stories that are sent home when we learn a new letter:
1) circle the letter on each page
2) trace the letter
3) colour the pictures
4) practice reading the story pointing to the words as you say them
5) read the story to your child a have them listen and identify the letter sound focused on in the book.

Work in Progress

I am working on creating a Math wiki that will contain different pages of games and activities to use when we go to the computer lab or for you to use at home.  Do you have any favourite Math websites you would like to share?  If you do, post a comment with the link so I can check them out.
Here is the wiki:
